How is the Country? Canada?

Hey everyone!

This week has went by so fast! Holy cow I can't believe it! But we had a really good week. We were able to stay busy with lessons and meeting people. We have a baptism coming this Saturday! I am so excited for it. It is for a 18 year old kid named Frez (pronounced Freeze). He is awesome. I am so happy to see a kid around my age realize the importance of the gospel. Now a days I feel like us youngins are caught up too much in the worldly things like Instagram and Twitter and nice cars and shoes and what not. But its really awesome to see him put the truly important things first. The gospel and spiritual things.

I had a really funny experience lastnight while I was buying some snacks. Out here, english is taught in schools and stuff so for the most part, they can understand english words if you mix it in with Cebuano. So we always get these people that try and show off and talk English to us, but it is always completely broken. So this guy came up to me and asked "How is the country?".....I thought he was asking how I liked the Philippines so I answered "Its cool I like it a lot"......He got confused and then asked again "How is the country?....Canada?". At this point I was really confused. I thought he was asking me how the country of Canada was doing so I answered " I think its doing pretty well..?" And he just got a really confused look on his face and asked once again  "How is the country?"  And I finally realized that he was trying to ask me where I was from and he thought I was from Canada. So I started speaking Visaya and told him that I was from America. It blew his mind that I spoke Cebuano. It was hilarious haha, cause usually I can understand what they are trying to say when they use English but this guy successfully confused the crap out of me haha!

But I had a great week this last week and am looking forward to another great week ahead! I love you all and miss you tons!

Pig skin and Chicken intestines

Hey everyone

This week has been good. I was able to go on splits a couple times with some way cool elders. Our work here in Zamboanguita is going really well. We have been focusing on talking with everyone and finding new people to teach. Its really cool how the Lord places people in our way for us to talk to. We have been able to teach some new people and find some less active families. We taught this one family and the sister came to church on Sunday! It was really cool.

Nothing too crazy went down this week though. Just the same ole same ole! Its great though. I am loving it out here so much. I just think its so fast.  I am almost 8 months out, my cousin Mason only has 6 months left, and my friend Dillan gets home next week. Craziness!

I am seeing some pretty cool beaches out here.  I haven't eaten any balut (see earlier post) lately but I eat pig skin and chicken intestines every night for dinner!  It is so good.  I love it, haha.

I hope you are all doing great, sorry I am kinda short this week, I don't have a whole lot of time left. But I love you all and miss ya tons!

Amping sa inyong tanan! (anyone????)

This week has been pretty good! We had transfers and I was able to get my new companion. He is from Utah and is super cool. Elder Pettibone. He is super super good at the language so I am really hoping to learn a lot from him. We get a long good. He is pretty funny.
Our area is doing pretty well. We have two investigators with Baptismal dates so I am very excited for them. Other than them though, our teaching pool is pretty small. So we have decided we are going to work hard on finding new people to teach and locating inactive members. I hope it all goes well.
Conference this year was amazing! I loved being able to listen to the speakers. I remember when I was younger thinking that conference is never ending and super boring. But this last conf. went by so fast and it was everything but boring. It was great.  But other than conference and transfers nothing too crazy went down this week. Hopefully next week I will have more to share. I love you all and miss you tons!

Change

Hello everyone!~
This week has been a great one. It went by really fast. As we all know this last week was Easter and Holy Week. Our area was really quiet for a few days which was weird. There was a lot of people that left and were out of town and it was just really quiet. Nothing really going on. It was interesting walking around the streets of Zambo and seeing huge crosses and statues of Jesus with candles surrounding everywhere. We were at the church and we walked outside to see this HUGE parade of people, like everyone in this town, marching behind a big cross with Jesus on it. It was pretty interesting.
We were able to still teach our investigators though and members. Our investigators, Brother Friz, and Rolan, are so great. They are just so elect. They have been asking great questions during lessons and are just so ready to receive the gospel. I am stoked to work with them some more. We had a branch wide fasting activity on Easter that turned out great. I was able to really see the dedication of these members. On Sunday in sacrament, our recent convert, Kathleen got up and shared her testimony all by herself and had the whole place crying. It was amazing. I was so proud of her. She is probably the shyest little girl I have ever met, but she still showed her faith and got up there and did it. I was so proud.

We found out that Elder Uata will be transfering out and I will be getting a new companion. I am really bummed about it. I love Elder Uata so much. We are seriously like the best of friends. I will miss him a ton. But I know I will come to love my new companion as well. I am excited to see what this new transfer has to offer.
Hope you all are doing great! I love and miss you! Take care and have a great week!
